Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber Earns Highest National Rating Only Chamber in Texas to be Awarded a 5-Star Rating
Irving, TX (PRWEB) March 9, 2009 -- The Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce recently became the only Chamber in Texas to earn a 5-Star Accreditation - the highest possible - from the United States Chamber of Commerce. While a total of 17 chambers were awarded some level of accreditation this year, the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber was one of only six receiving the distinguished 5-Star rating, placing it among the top 1% of chambers nationally. The award recognizes effective organizational procedures and measures the positive impact of a chamber on the local business community and region.
"Accreditation recognizes chambers for their high standards of practice, full accountability to members, and steadfast commitment to community," said Thomas J. Donohue, President and CEO, U.S. Chamber of Commerce. "We applaud the Irving-Las Colinas Chamber for advancing these principles of free enterprise."
"This award recognizes the Chamber's hard work on behalf of Irving's business community and our member organizations," said Carter Holston, Chairman of the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber Board. "With six of the 56 Best Small Businesses in America (more than any other city in the nation for the second consecutive year), more than 10,000 local businesses and four Fortune 500 companies calling Irving home, Irving-Las Colinas has quickly become the preeminent business address for companies, large and small. The U.S. Chamber's 5-star distinction reflects our business community's success, and the Chamber looks forward to building upon these accomplishments."
To earn accreditation at a 5-star level, a chamber is required to meet the highest standards in operations and programs, including areas of governance, government affairs and technology. 5-star accreditation demonstrates that a chamber has defined, reached and maintained top level operational performance standards, has developed a meaningful and broad-based program of work and has significantly contributed to the good of their community region, state and country. The Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce, one of the first accredited since the inception of the program in 1964, jumped up from the 3-star rating it has enjoyed for many years.
"The U.S. Chamber clearly recognizes the addition of significant programming and services over the last five years," said Chris Wallace, President/CEO of the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce. "We look forward to receiving the evaluation forms from the consulting team who performed the audit in the areas of governance, finance, HR, governmental affairs, program development, technology, communications/marketing, facilities and benchmarking. The feedback is invaluable as we continually strive to better serve the business community of Irving."
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation, representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector and region.
Proud to be the highest-rated Chamber in Texas, the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce promotes the growth and expansion of business in Irving, an international community that is home to 210,000 residents and more than 10,000 businesses, including the global headquarters of four Fortune 500 companies and the presence of more than 30 more.
